Home Efficiency Rebate +
The Home Efficiency Rebate Plus program provides up to $10,000 for energy-saving upgrades. Canada's Greener Homes Grant provides rebates towards eligible retrofits such as home insulation, windows and doors, heat pumps and renewable energy systems.
Utility Bill Credit
Homeowner’s can qualify for up to $2500 in utility bill credits on their Water, Gas and Hydro bill. Utility bill credits may take up to two billing cycles to process.
Clean Home Heating Initiative
The Ontario government is investing a total of $8.2 million in the Clean Home Heating Initiative to help families in more communities keep energy costs down. The Clean Home Heating Initiative will support the installation of electric heat pumps with smart controls by providing homeowners with incentives of up to $4,500.
Home Winterproofing Program
The Home Winterproofing Program can help you lower your natural gas bill and make your home more comfortable. If your home and household income levels qualify, you’ll get free insulation, draft proofing and a smart thermostat to reduce energy costs up to 30 percent.
Canada Greener Homes Grant
The Canada Greener Homes Loan is an loan of up to $40,000 with a repayment term of 10 years, open to homeowners who have an active application (at the pre-retrofit stage) with the Canada Greener Homes Grant.
Home Energy Loan Program
Making your home more energy efficient is one of the most substantial actions homeowners can take to reduce the emissions contributing to climate change. Through the Home Energy Loan Program (HELP), Toronto homeowners can borrow up to $125,000 to cover the cost of home energy improvements. Home Energy Loan Program participants may receive up to $2,500 when they install a heat pump.
Durham Greener Homes Program
Durham Greener Homes is a program of the Regional Municipality of Durham administered by Windfall Ecology Centre. It is designed to help homeowners in the Region overcome the challenges of completing energy retrofits by providing support throughout the home retrofit journey. The initiative sprung from the Region's commitment to foster sustainable communities by advocating for a region-wide transition to energy-efficient homes as part of its cleaner environment and low carbon plan.
Peel Residential Energy Program (PREP)
The Town of Caledon, together with the Cities of Brampton and Mississauga, are designing a home energy retrofit program through the Peel Residential Energy Program (PREP). The goal is to help homeowners conserve energy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.The program will support improved energy efficiency and decrease greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. The regional approach including all three municipalities provides synergies that allow for saved time and money. It will also provide consistency for retrofit professionals working across Peel Region.
Simcoe County Ontario Renovates
The Ontario Renovates Program includes funding for urgent repairs, renovations, and accessibility modifications for low to moderate income homeowners. Funding of up to $15,000 per unit is available. Accessibility modifications are particularly beneficial for seniors to allow them to 'age in place' and persons with disabilities who require unit modifications. Application intake for urgent home repairs and accessibility modifications is year round; however, as funding is limited, applicants may be placed on a waitlist. Eligible applications are reviewed in the order they are received.
Burlington Deep Energy Retrofit Program
The city of Burlington is working with the Centre for Climate Change Management at Mohawk College to develop a home energy retrofit program for residents. This will include: Developing a business plan for a delivery centre. Assessing financing options for homeowners. This project is supported with funding from the Federation of Canadian Municipalities' Community Efficiency Financing Initiative and The Atmospheric Fund.
Retrofit Halton Hills Pilot Program
The Retrofit pilot program was launched in April 2022 and advances the Town's climate change goals by providing access to financing for energy retrofits to homeowners in Halton Hills. This project was carried out with assistance from the Green Municipal Fund, a fund financed by the Government of Canada and administered by the Federation of Canadian Municipalities.
Newmarket Energy Efficiency Retrofit (NEER)
The Newmarket Energy Efficiency Retrofit (NEER) initiative is a municipal project that is designed specifically for Newmarket residents to retrofit their homes and save on energy all while lowering the community's total greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
Windsor Residential Deep Energy Efficiency Retrofit Program
R-DEER program plans to Retrofit 80% of all Windsor homes built prior to 2018 and at least 20 years old at the time of application. The goal is to achieve an average of 20% improvement in water efficiency, 35% improvement in energy efficiency, and up to 60% reduction in GHG emissions per retrofit, and Offer standardized home retrofit packages to address the most common high-energy uses in homes.
Better Homes Kingston
Kingston homeowners are now eligible for a loan for home energy efficiency improvements. Homeowners who participate in the program will qualify for up to $40,000 loans. This project is carried out with assistance from the Federation of Canadian Municipalities’ Green Municipal Fund, an endowment created by the Government of Canada.
Guelph Energy Efficiency Retrofit Strategy
As part of the GEERS program, Guelph homeowners will be encouraged to make energy efficiency improvements to their homes. Participating homeowners will work with a contractor of their choice to make any number of possible retrofits. The upfront costs of the retrofits are paid through the pilot program, making the investment affordable for most homeowners. Homeowners then repay these costs over a period of up to 25-years at low interest rates through special monthly charges which are collected via their tax bill.
Hasting County Ontario Priorities Housing Initiative Program
The Federal and Provincial governments have partnered to fund the Ontario Renovates program in Hastings County. Completed applications are generally processed on a first come first serve basis subject to a regard for a fair distribution of the program funds across the Multi-Residential Rental Unit Rehabilitation Program components and throughout The County of Hastings and the Cities of Belleville and Quinte West.
CMHC Eco Plus
Home buyers can access rebates with The Canadian Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) by getting an energy evaluation or EnerGuide rating that shows home efficiency improvements. Apply for a partial premium refund of 25% if you’re CMHC insured and have an energy efficient home.
Sagen Energy Efficient Housing Program
This program offers a refund of 25% of the mortgage insurance premium for borrowers purchasing an energy-efficient home or making energy-saving renovations. As a Sagen-insured mortgage holder purchasing an energy-efficient home or renovating to improve energy efficiency, you are eligible to receive a partial premium refund of up to 25%.
Multigenerational Home Renovation Tax Credit
The Multigenerational Home Renovation Tax Credit (MGHRTC) is a refundable credit to assist with the cost of renovating an eligible dwelling to establish a secondary unit that enables a qualifying individual (a senior or an adult who is eligible for the disability tax credit) to live with a qualifying relation. The value of the credit is 15% of the lesser of qualifying expenditures and $50,000.
